From Indifference to Action

Depraved IndifferenceWelcome!

We are so thankful and touched that you are taking the time to join us on this crazy journey we have begun.  We have already been so encouraged by the show of support and kind words we have received as we made our official announcement yesterday.  If you have found this blog via Facebook or some other way, check out our Announcement Letter to get up to speed on how we got to this point, and where we are headed from here (Lord willing!).  We have also compiled a list of FAQs that we have received along with our answers, so check that out as well.

Our hope for this blog is that it will serve as a chronicle of our journey, an excuse for storytelling, an opportunity for honest processing, a place to share both burdens and joys, and maybe even a source of encouragement for fellow or future adoptive families.  We also hope that it serves as an advocate for adoption.  God’s love for the “the least of these” and orphans specifically is poured out throughout the Bible.  It is also clear that caring for them is not an option.

“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit the widows and orphans in their affliction.” – James 1:27

“You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry.” -Exodus 22:22-23

“Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless.” – Isaiah 1:17

“Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.” – Psalm 82:3

“You shall not pervert the justice due to the sojourner or to the fatherless.” – Deuteronomy 24:17

“Then I will draw near to you for judgment. I will be a swift witness against … those who oppress the widow and the fatherless.” – Malachi 3:5

“Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” -Psalm 82:3-4

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me … Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.” – Matthew 28:40, 45

Not everyone is called to adopt.  Not everyone is able to adopt.  But everyone is called to care for and bring justice to the orphans of the world.   We are all called to fight against the ocean of indifference that threatens to pull us all under.  That is why we are inviting you to join us in this journey.  We want to give you an opportunity that says no to that indifference and instead takes action.

This video expresses our heart better than we can.  Please, take a moment to watch it and join us in the effort to give one orphan a family.  We promise, to that one orphan, your gesture against indifference will make all the difference.

Thanks for joining us.
